Summer Course 2024 held a field trip to RPH Giwangan and Naturindo

Yogyakarta, July 18, 2024 – Summer Course 2024 successfully conducted its first field trip by visiting two important locations in Yogyakarta: Rumah Pemotongan Hewan (RPH) Giwangan and Naturindo. The field trip started with a visit to the Rumah Pemotongan Hewan (RPH) Giwangan, which is managed by the Department of Agriculture and Food of the Yogyakarta City Government. At RPH Giwangan, participants received informative materials about RPH Giwangan presented by Mr. Arifin. Additionally, participants were shown a video of animal slaughtering to provide a clearer understanding of the processes carried out at RPH Giwangan.

After the presentation and video screening, participants were taken on a tour of RPH Giwangan. During the tour, they had the opportunity to ask Mr. Arifin questions about various aspects of the RPH's operations. The discussion and Q&A sessions were actively engaged, providing participants with a deep understanding of the processes and standards implemented at RPH Giwangan. The first session concluded with a group photo session and the presentation of a plaque to show appreciation to RPH Giwangan for hosting the visit.

After lunch, participants continued their activity to the Naturindo herbal medicine factory. There, they were taken on a tour to see various types of herbal plants used in the production of traditional medicines. They also learned about the process of making the herbal medicine from ancient times to the modern era. During the tour, participants had the opportunity to taste Naturindo's herbal products.

Not only toured the facilities, but participants were also taught how to plant herbal plants using the cutting method. This activity provided practical experience in applying their knowledge about herbal plants. Furthermore, participants had the opportunity to directly practice making herbal medicines and soap. They were also allowed to take home the herbal products and soap they made and to decorate and name their products. This activity offered a valuable and enjoyable experience for all involved.

This field trip aimed to provide participants with practical insights and new knowledge about various local halal industries in Yogyakarta and to enhance their appreciation for the processes and efforts undertaken by these industry players.
