Interactive Insights: Uncovering Halal Tourism and Supply Chains Through Dynamic Exercises
Presentation session mentored by Dr. Ir. Ira Setyaningsih, S.T., M.Sc, IPM, ASEAN Eng.
Yogyakarta, July 12th, 2024 - Today marks the fourth day of our exciting 2024 summer course activities. This morning, participants from various backgrounds and majors participated in exciting online exercises that discussed previous material. Before the exercise began, the participants were called and asked to share their quotes of the day, setting a positive and motivational vibe for further activities.
In the next session, the participants were divided into 5 groups guided by Liaison Officers (Lo) in each group. The participants were asked questions and invited to active discussions regarding the material discussed in courses 3 and 4 related to "Halal Tourism" and "Supply Chain in Halal Industries." This interactive session increased participants' understanding of the material and fostered teamwork.
After the discussion session concluded, each group of participants was asked to present the results of their discussion on the previous material. The presentation was mentored by Dr. Ir. Ira Setyaningsih, S.T., M.Sc, IPM, ASEAN Eng and conducted actively and insightfully. Each participant shared their views on halal tourism and halal supply chains based on their country background. This presentation aims to enhance understanding of the material, promote cross-cultural understanding among participants, and provide perspectives from different countries.
"Halal tourism is different from religious tourism or pilgrimage tourism; for example, the Hajj and Umrah are pilgrimage tourism for Muslims. Halal tourism is generally associated with Muslim countries, which makes it easier for us as Muslims to travel. In Muslim countries such as Indonesia and the Middle East like Yaman, halal tourism emphasizes that various facilities provided are halal, such as hotels, food and beverages, and other facilities. The fundamental concept of a halal supply chain is tracking and tracing. How can we ensure that products and services from raw materials to customers are guaranteed to be halal? These are long journeys, so contamination is very high. I hope this discussion can be problem-solving," highlighted Dr. Ira.
Enthusiasm shown by everyone involved really. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue our journey through this exciting 2024 Summer Course.
