Perovskite Expert from Hankyong National University Korea Shares Insights at Faculty of Science and Technology’s International Guest Lecture 2025

On Monday, 27 October 2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, through its International Affairs Office, successfully held the International Guest Lecture 2025 with the theme “A Practical Perovskite Solar Cell Strategy for the Indonesian Tropical Environment: Ambient, Low-Cost, and Stable” at the GKT Auditorium.

The event was opened by welcome remarks from Ir. Muhammad Taufiq Nuruzzaman, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology. In his welcoming remarks, he expressed his appreciation for the participation of students and lecturers, emphasizing the importance of international exposure to broaden students’ horizons and enhance their academic and global competitiveness, as well as to strengthen academic collaborations across borders.

The highlight of the lecture featured Professor Kim Gyu-min from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Research Center for Chemical Technology, Hankyong National University, Republic of Korea, as the distinguished speaker. Prof. Kim shared his expertise on the development of perovskite solar cells, focusing on strategies to enhance their performance and stability under Indonesia’s tropical conditions. His presentation provided valuable insights into low-cost, ambient, and durable solar cell technologies that could support sustainable energy solutions in the region.

The session was moderated by Mr. Endaruji Seedyadi, S.Si., M.Sc., from the Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, who facilitated an engaging discussion between the speaker and participants. The session drew enthusiastic participation from students, who actively asked thought-provoking questions and shared their curiosity about perovskite solar cell innovation.

Following the main lecture, Lela Susilawati, Ph.D., led a special session introducing international scholarship and research collaboration opportunities, including fully funded scholarships, student exchanges, internships, and double degree programs provided by Hankyong National Univeristy. The session aimed to inspire students and lecturers to actively engage in global academic mobility and joint research initiatives. Hankyong National University also offers various academic opportunities, such as graduate scholarships and student mobility programs that support international collaboration and academic exchange. Students also have the opportunity to join professors’ research projects, which often lead to high-quality publications.

The International Guest Lecture 2025 served as a meaningful platform for knowledge sharing and global engagement. Through activities like this, FST UIN Sunan Kalijaga continues to promote international collaboration, inspiring students to expand their horizons and take part in global scientific networks.
