A student from the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta was designated as the ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics) Student Representative for the accreditation visit at UIN Malang. Fadilla Nur Rahma, a student of the Biology Study Program, participated as part of the expert panel during the on-site accreditation visit at the State Islamic University of Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (UIN Malang), which took place on 26–27 May 2025. The visit focused on the evaluation of the Biology and Chemistry academic clusters. As a student representative, Fadilla contributed significantly to the ASIIN accreditation process by offering valuable insights from the student perspective on educational programs and institutional services.
According to ASIIN regulations, peer group members—including student representatives—are nominated by the Accreditation Commission based on recommendations from the responsible Technical Committee(s). Student representatives must meet criteria such as active enrollment in a relevant field, critical reflection on their learning experience, timely academic progress, and familiarity with both Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. Fadilla met all these requirements, demonstrating strong academic credentials and the ability to contribute meaningfully to international quality assurance efforts.
During the visit, Fadilla collaborated with a distinguished panel of experts: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nellen (Universität Kassel, Germany), Prof. Dr. Carla Vogt (Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany), and Sujatmoko, an industry sector representative from PT ROCHE Indonesia. The visit was organized and facilitated by Dr. Emeline Jerez, ASIIN project manager.
Finally, reflecting on her experience, Fadilla shared: “Being a student representative for accreditation was a valuable experience. It broadened my understanding of university quality assurance and highlighted the important role students play in aligning the learning process. The discussions, especially comparing European and Indonesian learning standards, were very insightful. This role also allowed me to voice student concerns to help create a better learning environment while maintaining existing academic standards” she said.
The Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Sunan Kalijaga hopes that Fadilla’s achievement will inspire other students to actively engage in academic quality assurance processes and take leadership roles that contribute to both their personal growth and the continuous improvement of education at the university and beyond.
